Shadblow Theatre Audition Notice for Dare to Dream Jr., Annie - in Concert, and Ordinary Days

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN AUDITIONING!

Auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream were held in March, and the cast has been finalized. We can't wait for you to see the performances in June!

Auditions for the productions of Dare to Dream Jr., Annie - in Concert, and Ordinary Days are as follows:

Auditions will be held in the Black Box at the Jenison Center for the Arts (8375 20th Ave Jenison, MI 49428). Please visit www.jpsarts.com for more information about the venue.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION:

We will be auditioning for multiple shows at the same time.

Important Notes:

Student grade levels refer to the current school year. However, 8th-grade students may audition for either group.
A participation fee of $35 is required for Dare to Dream Jr. This fee includes the production shirt and helps cover overall production costs. Scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis.
Annie (In Concert): Auditions are for featured soloists only, including:
- Orphan named roles (young female performers, 3rd grade and up)
- Adult named roles
Community members who wish to sing in the Annie chorus or perform in the orchestra are welcome and do not need to audition. The chorus is open to students in 3rd grade through adults, while the orchestra is open to students in 8th grade and older.

Friday, April 24, 2026

3:45–5:45 pm – Grades 9–12 + Annie named orphans (females in 3rd grade and up) (5-minute slots)
6:00–8:00 pm – Adults (Annie & Ordinary Days) (6-minute slots)

Saturday, April 25, 2026

9:30 AM–12:00 pm – Grades 4–8 (Dare to Dream Jr. only)
- 30-minute group sessions (10 students per group; max 50)
12:30–2:30 PM – Grades 9–12 + Annie named orphans (females in 3rd grade and up) (5-minute slots)
2:30–4:30 pm – Adults (Annie & Ordinary Days) (6-minute slots)

CALLBACKS (By Invitation Only)

If selected, you may be asked to attend callbacks:

Sunday, April 26
- 2:00–4:00 pm – Ordinary Days
- 4:00–6:00 pm – Annie
Tuesday, April 28
- 5:30–7:30 pm– Dare to Dream Jr.

Be prepared to read sides, sing music from the show, and dance (wear comfortable shoes).

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early and be prepared to share your availability for rehearsals and performances. Headshots and resumes are welcome but not required.

Students (Grades 4–8) – Dare to Dream Jr.
No preparation required

Adult permission to participate (signature required)
Be ready to introduce yourself (name and grade)
You will be taught a song at the audition
Be prepared to move and dance; wear comfortable shoes

Students (Grades 9–12) – Dare to Dream Jr. & Annie
(Named Orphans: females in 3rd grade and up)

Adult permission to participate (signature required)
30–60 second monologue
60–90 second song (approximately 32 bars of a musical theatre selection)
Provide sheet music in a 3-ring binder for the accompanist (no a cappella)
Be prepared to move and dance; wear comfortable shoes

Adults – Annie & Ordinary Days

30–60 second monologue

Rehearsals: June 8–18 (Mon–Thurs, 6:00–8:30 PM)
Tech: June 22 (6:00–9:00 PM)
Dress: June 23–25 (6:00–9:00 PM)

Annie (In Concert)

Rehearsals: July–August (schedule TBD)
- Featured singers: ~1-2nights/week (6:00–9:00 PM)
- Chorus: ~1 night/week (6:00–8:00 PM)
- Orchestra: ~1 night/week (6:00–8:00 PM)

Mon–Thurs, 6:00–9:00 PM
